Thor: Love and Thunder trailer delivers lightning quick tease of superpowered Jane Foster

The first Thor: Love and Thunder trailer has finally been released – and it's a superhero, intergalactic glam rock feast for the senses. Released on Monday, April 18, the first teaser for Thor 4 provides us with our first official look at Natalie Portman's superpowered Jane Foster amid a bunch of other intriguing blink and you'll miss it moments.   Not only do we get a glimpse at Jane Foster's suped-up alter ago, aka The Mighty Thor, but we're also given a brief look at Russell Crowe's Zeus and Mount Olympus – i.e. the home of the Greek gods. There's no footage of Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher, but it's safe to assume that he'll be teased in the film's official trailer and be gunning for Zeus' head. Gorr wants to eradicate every god he finds – it's in his title, after all – so Zeus may not be around for long in Thor 4. You can bet your bottom dollar that Gorr will feature in our Marvel villains article soon enou...

The iPhone 14 launch is likely to mean the end for the iPhone 11

The arrival of the iPhone 14 later this year will mean the iPhone 11 gets shunted out of Apple's smartphone range, according to one tipster – so if you want the older phone then you've got a few months left to get it direct from Apple.  Sources speaking to iDropNews say that the iPhone 11 will be gone after the iPhone 14 range appears – not only due to its age but also because it potentially takes away sales from the iPhone SE (2022) that Apple launched in March.  Apparently, the iPhone 11 has sold more than the new iPhone SE since the latter phone arrived. The iPhone SE (2022) is the cheaper model of the pair, but the iPhone 11 has the more modern-looking design and features an extra camera on the back too. https://forums.wincustomize.com/509200/page/1/#3847586 https://www.edaboard.com/threads/experts-in-electronics-engineering-often-say-analog-circuit-design-is-like-black-magic-what-is-that-supposed-to-mean.402182/ https://www.electronics-lab.com/community/index.php?/t...

Clubhouse finally gets dark mode on Android and iOS

The exclusive audio-only social media platform is finally getting a dark mode on its Android and iOS apps.  Starting from April 14, those using an Android smartphone or an iPhone to access Clubhouse can at long last enter dark mode to turn the app’s UI black (or “velvety dark” as the blog post put it, *sigh*).  To turn this feature on you simply need to head to settings and select ‘Dark Mode’. From here you’ll have two options.   For those after the dark mode aesthetic 24/7, you’ll want to turn on ‘Always Dark Mode’. Meanwhile, those of you who use dark mode to reduce eye strain at night can turn on ‘User Device Settings’, causing the app to automatically shift between light and dark mode based on your phone’s settings. The update should have already begun rolling out, though it can sometimes take a bit of time for it to reach everyone. You can check the Play Store or App Store on your phone to see if it’s updated or to force it to update for you a little soon...

Adobe After Effects gets native Apple M1 support at last

Adobe has announced native Apple M1 silicon support, hopefully meaning faster launch and rendering times for motion designers and video creators.  In benchmark tests released by the company, running After Effects on a high-end M1 Ultra Mac is now up to three times as fast, and those using the video effects software on standard M1-powered devices should see performance jump to double the speed.   According to Adobe, the power boost makes it easy for motion designers, “to explore ideas and iterate more quickly on their compositions. - After Effects and Premiere Pro subscribers now get free access to the Frame.io remote video collaboration service , which comes built into both the VFX tool and Adobe’s much-loved video editing software .  - With 3D making (yet another) comeback, Extended Viewer and Binning Indicators for 3D layers now make it easier for designers to visualize compositions and move through three-dimensional spaces in real-time.  - Sce...

DoorDash is about to make cash-strapped students very happy

Cash-strapped students might start thinking about delivery that still fits within their limited food budget after DoorDash launched a new low-cost subscription plan for its DashPass service. The aptly named DashPass for Students will run you back $5 per month, half of the cost of a normal subscription and it’s a more budget-friendly alternative for students to get food delivery, groceries, and more from partnered retailers. There’s also the Annual Student Plan, which is $48 annually. DashPass Perks With the subscription service, you won’t have to pay any delivery fees so long as you hit the minimum subtotal, though that only applies to certain orders. The minimum isn’t a very high threshold; it’s $12 for restaurant orders and $25 for groceries. You will also get 10 percent off orders in the form of reduced service fees.   Students will also get five percent credit back on Pickup orders, but only for certain restaurants. There will also be members-only promotion...

The next iPad Pro needs to borrow this one iPad Air feature

I've used my iPad Pro for years now – obviously that means that I do like it, but there are two features that really ruin the experience for me.  The first is the battery life, but I know I can only get so annoyed at that. I've used the thing incessantly for several years, and Apple isn't exactly great with its product battery life anyway – I'm used to this now.  But there's one feature that some Apple fans paint as a positive, that I just hate for the iPad: Face ID.   I know Face ID is popular on iPhones, but I've found it doesn't work well at all. It rarely recognizes my face, and even when it does, it takes loads of rotating and fiddling with the device to angle it right. Oh, and simply picking up the phone is a chore when in-screen fingerprint sensors let me avoid this.   I'm admittedly comparing it to Android phone equivalents, which are a little less secure, but I'm not a secret agent or important celebrity – the odds of someone printing ...

Star Wars and Dragon Age lead this month's Xbox Game Pass titles

Microsoft has revealed the next slate of games hitting Xbox Game Pass this month, and there are a fair few gems in the line-up. Sports games Cricket 22 and MLB The Show 22 are available on Xbox Game Pass now, with an eclectic mix soon to join them. Action RPG nuts can dig into one of BioWare’s best releases with Dragon Age 2, Star Wars aficionados and flight sim fans have Star Wars: Squadrons to keep them happy, and Panzer Corps 2 will appeal to any strategy wargamers out there. Life Is Strange: True Colors is one for emotive adventure fans, while The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk, Lost In Random, and Chinatown Detective Agency are all indie picks. Add to that Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, and you’ve got yourself another four-player co-op option, too. That’s a fairly impressive range and comes off the back of a stellar March that saw F1 2021, Weird West, and Crusader Kings 3 added to the platform.   Microsoft will need to keep the good times rolling now Sony has ...

Google is luring workers back to the office with an incredible perk

The days of working from home will soon come to an end for Google employees in the Bay Area and several other US locations but the company hopes to entice them to return to the office with a brand new perk.  Beginning this month, the search giant will officially move to a hybrid work model where employees will be expected to be in the office at least three days every week.   As part of its efforts to get employees back to the office, Google has partnered with the electric scooter maker Unagi to launch a new program called “Ride Scoot” according to a report from The Verge.  The new program will make it possible for the majority of the company’s US-based workers to get reimbursed for a monthly subscription to Unagi’s Model One scooter which retails for $990 and has a top speed of 20mph and a range of 15.5 miles. “They know there’s apprehension amongst employees. People got really accustomed to working from home. And they’re just trying to do everything they can...
